The Oldest Part Of The Island
Beach Haven is the island's original resort town, and it still looks like it. Small lots on a tight grid, houses built close together, and a historic district full of structures considerably older than anything else on Long Beach Island.
That age changes the job in two ways. Older buildings come apart differently than modern construction, with heavier framing and more surprises inside the walls. And a property inside or near a historic district can carry review requirements that a newer street would not, so the permit conversation starts earlier here than most places.
Permits Before Machines
A Beach Haven teardown usually starts in the municipal office rather than on the lot. Between the borough's own demolition process, utility disconnects that have to clear first, and whatever historic review applies to the address, the paperwork window is the part most likely to move your start date.
Once it clears, the work itself is familiar: an older, tightly built structure that comes down top down, debris sorted as it goes, foundation out, lot graded. The difference is that on this end of the island the schedule is set by the review calendar, not by the crew.
